Brittle Nails

Brittle nails are typically one of the signs that your stomach isn't adequately digesting enough nutrients. (Other signs include heartburn, bloating, indigestion, constipation, and nighttime leg cramps.)

If your stomach isn't making enough hydrochloric acid, pepsin, or vitamin B12 absorption factor, it will often cause your nails to bend and break easily, or to chip, peel, or layer back. Weak nails can also be the result of a weak thyroid, insufficient essential fatty acids, or poor calcium intake.

Make an appointment with a physician skilled in natural medicine to check into the problem further. Once you uncover the underlying cause of your brittle nails, you’ll be able to work with your doctor to put together and individualized supplement program that will help get rid of the problem (and likely others, too) for good.
